Hi All,
Here is some useful information for your race weekend.
Registration
Registration will take place at the Harding Club in the
dining hall from 16h00 on Friday. Its important that all riders be aware that
on race day there will be a riders list at the gate entry so that security will
allow you into the show grounds for free.
Riders Meeting
Their will be a riders rep meeting in the dining hall at the
country club from 17H30 on Friday. It is important that all riders attend to hear
what Mark Garland has to report back to the riders on various issues that
concern the national enduros.
Prize Giving
We are aiming to have prize giving start around 17h00 -17h30
all being well. We encourage all competitors to have a shower at the cricket
club and support the local country club until prize giving starts.
Walking of Special Tests
Special Tests will be open for walking by competitors from
12h00 on Friday. Please follow the signs as you exit the pits to the extreme
and cross tests
Pit Lane
Pit lane is situated on the fairway of the golf course and
due to the nature of this event being part of a country show with people
probably being at a race for the first time, we will have to be very strict on
pit lane riding. The rule is no faster than walking pace and we appeal to all
riders to obey this rule.
Bike Impound
There will be a bike impound at the start of the pits
whereby all finishers will need to park their bikes at the end of the lap. Only
riders and officials are allowed in this area. All GPS's are to be handed in
for inspection at the impound.
Route Report
The route for this national enduro will be approx 40 Km long
for each lap winding through the forest plantations of Harding. Forests riding
requires you to be alert at all times as you negotiate trees, stumps and
lurkers as your route takes you through various up hills and downhills in this
epic riding terrain. You need to be alert at all times during the regularity as
it will keep you "busy" as you become accustomed to this challenging
but rewarding terrain. There will be two road crossing on the course where we
have placed clocking machines at each forcing riders to stop a each crossing.
Don't forget your clocking machines
Motul/Alfie Cox Racing Extreme Special Test
As you leave the pits you will ride for approx. 1.1 KM until
you come to the Motul/Alfie Cox Racing Extreme Special test. Set in a small
quarry you will be tested over 1.2 km of tight extreme riding. The extreme test
is a minimum of 4 metre's wide enabling riders to pass others rider who may
find the natural obstacles challenging. We have used orange barrier netting to
mark most of the route where the track double backs on itself or in close
proximity to other areas of the course. Please note that this barrier netting
demarcates the edge of the course and may not be crossed at all times.
Marshall's will be placed on this special to ensure that riders are respecting
the boundaries of the course at all times. All the natural obstacles are
ride-able and will require the utmost commitment as you approach these
obstacles. There are easier "lines" that will take more time than the
more challenging lines that will save you time, the option is yours.
Spectator information- As you exit the pits turn right
and follow the green markers and signage until you come across the extreme test
where you can park in the demarcated area and walk to the viewing spot where
the majority of the special is visible. Will make some exciting viewing. You
will need to leave the start area before your rider in order to get to the
special before they start.
After this special you will have approximately 19 km of
regularity riding that will keep you very "busy" until you reach the
cross test. This regularity will test your concentration and ability to ride
real forests with some really nice downhills to keep you on your toes.
Yamaha Cross Test
The Yamaha cross test is set in a natural amphitheatre where
the spectator viewing is incredible for 90% of the approximately 2.6 Km's long
course.
Spectator information - As spectator's exit the country
club you take an immediate left and follow the signs and green markers to this
special test. There is plenty time to get back to the pits to watch your riders
finish their lap
After completing this special you will continue on the
regularity for approximately 9 km's as the regularity riding becomes more
challenging with some interesting downhills, a long uphill firebreak and
testing drop offs. Please start the downhills at a very slow pace to ensure
that you get to the bottom at a controllable speed.
Enduro Test
The enduro test is approximately 6 Km's long, starting in a
forest section and ending up on the golf course with your bike WIDE FULL OPEN(
Thats where WFO got its name from). You then finish your lap at the same time
in front of the country club clubhouse and pit area.
Spectator Information- The
enduro special start is on your way back from the cross test. You will only be
able to view the start section of this special and we advise you to get back to
the pits to watch the finish on the golf course which will be exciting.
We really hope you enjoy the
race and although "Its Hard in Harding", you will have a great sense
of achievement for finishing this enduro. Good Luck, travel safe and we look
forward to hosting you.
Regards
WFO Club
